02Scope and applicable law

This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal data when you visit digitalmelon.co, contact us, book a call, or use our software products and services.

We process personal data in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the "PDPL") and its implementing regulations, and other applicable UAE laws. Where we serve clients outside the UAE, we also respect the data protection laws that apply to them, such as the EU/UK GDPR.

When we build or run software for a client and process their customers' data on their behalf, the client is the controller and we act as their processor under a separate agreement. This policy does not cover that data.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as health, religious or biometric data). Please do not send it to us. Card payments are handled by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.

We only set analytics and marketing cookies with your consent, given through our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through our cookie banner or your browser settings.

06Sharing and international transfers

We share personal data only where needed, with:

  • Service providers who help us operate: hosting and cloud, email, CRM, analytics, payment, scheduling and communication tools. They may only use the data to provide services to us.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and lawyers.
  • Authorities such as free zone, tax or law enforcement bodies, where UAE law requires it.
  • A buyer or successor if our business is reorganized, merged or sold.

Some providers store data outside the UAE. We transfer data abroad only where the PDPL allows it: to countries with adequate protection, or with safeguards such as contractual clauses, or with your consent.

07Retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:

We protect data with access controls, encryption in transit, secure hosting, staff confidentiality and regular reviews. No system is fully secure. If a breach is likely to affect your privacy, we will notify you and the UAE Data Office as the PDPL requires.

08Your rights

Under the PDPL you have the right to:

  • Get information about and a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
  • Have your data erased, where we no longer need it or the law allows
  • Restrict or object to processing, including for direct marketing
  • Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and have it transferred
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing
  • Object to decisions made solely by automated processing

To use these rights, email hello@digitalmelon.co. We may ask you to verify your identity, and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the UAE Data Office if you are not satisfied with our response. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email.

09Children

Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. We will notify you of significant changes by email or a notice on our website.
